Smooth Escape Artist
Early Friday morning (approx. 2 AM) the door swings open in our bedroom. I yell Jeff's name as I look up and see Benson standing in the doorway. He finally climbed out of his crib. Jeff about had a heart attack when I yelled his name. He thought someone broke into our house. Jeff slept with Benson up in the spare bedroom.
When it came time for naps on Friday, I put Benson in his crib. I was hoping it was just luck that he got out of his crib. Within minutes he was coming downstairs. Jeff came home right at that time, and I had him put Benson back in his crib to see how he climbs out. Jeff was very impressed. Benson is a smooth escape artist. Here is a video of his smooth moves! So, Benson didn't take a nap that day. Here is a video of him at dinnertime (falling asleep). He was exhausted!
You'd think he'd go right to bed after that. Well, no. We got a toddler bed from a neighbor that day (thanks Moore's). He was so excited when we took him up to his room and got the new bed set up. So that woke him up a bit. And then of course he wouldn't stay in the bed (I'm sure many of you have experienced this). We had to just lock him in his room until he fell asleep (which didn't really take that long). He of course fell asleep on the floor.

I loved watching Benson escape from his crib! cory and i think he looks a ton like jeff.
how in the world to you keep track of benson and take care of a newborn!
Carrie those videos are too funny. Bella wouldn't ever climb out of her crib, when we got her a toddler bed because we needed the crib for Lucy, Bella cried and said. "I want my cribbie."
It was awesome hanging out with you guys the other night! We're totally going to miss you!
the falling asleep at dinner was hilarious. you just want to grab them and cuddle up...which they won't. Hope the bed transitions goes smooth.
oh the burrito picture is too cute! you've got your hands full, huh?
I can't believe Owen is already 4 weeks old. Crazy how time flies. Those videos were hilarious. Benson should be the next Houdini, or however you spell it. Benson is going to be a great big brother. I can't wait to see you guys in a couple of weeks.
Oh I m so sorry that you can't use the crib anymore-not fun. Your boys are darling!
Oh, my gosh, I was laughing so hard watching those videos! Benson is hilarious. And Owen has changed so much. You have got the cutest family.
P.S. We need to get together with Shelby for our craft day. Any date suggestions?
So these are the things I can look forward to....GREAT! That's too funny .
Where to start?!? I loved both videos. Does this mean Laney will be climbing out of her crib soon, yikes?
Benson falling asleep in his high chair is a classic!
Also, I can't help but adore the Burrito Buddies picture, the way Benson is looking at Owen out of the corner of his eyes. Sweet Brothers!
Wow, seems like there are a lot of changes going on for you Carrie! Usually it's not so hard the first four weeks, but you've got Benson as a toddler learning all those new tricks. It's exhausting. hang in there, you are a great mom.
I love both videos! Good thing you got a toddler bed right away. We didn't....Emma is still sleeping with us...arrghh!!!
Carrie - what darling vids and pics!! So cute! Love the daddy and boys pic esp! ;)
I don't even want to think about the ramifications of having two kids! You will survive, I'm sure. We are finally going to have to get together when we come home from Florida next week. Love the countdown to the Twilight book, I am obsessed too!
Soo funny Carrie! The kids kept making me rewind the part of the video where Benson falls asleep. We watched him hit the tray with his sippy over and over again. Poor Benson... we got a laugh at his expense. Too funny! You're really good at this blog thing!
Your boys are simply adorable. I loved getting to see you tonight. I wish it would have been longer. Love you!
I about peed my pants with the high chair sleeping/eating. I don't know why, but that stuff always cracks me up! Sorry about Houndini. I am mean and tell my kids they will break their legs and then won't be able to walk. Hillary actually tried getting out once and hurt her knee and I told her she was lucky to be alive. Ha Ha Ha. My kids stay in cribs until they're 3 or so. I know...Lucky me...
